At FABRIC TOKYO, we conducted an Internet survey of men and women in their 20s and 50s regarding their shopping experience on Black Friday before the global sale festival "Black Friday".
Black Friday, which originated in the United States and has taken root as a global sale. However, from the perspective of sustainability, there is also a trend that calls for mass production and mass disposal. Through this survey, the actual situation of shopping on Black Friday, which also overlaps with the disposal problem of the apparel industry, has emerged.
FABRIC TOKYO has been conducting its own sustainable campaign "WHITE FRIDAY" since 2018 in line with the Black Friday season, and has been held since Thursday, November 17 in 2022. We aim to contribute to improving the negative cycle of mass production and mass consumption through the purchase of custom-made clothes.
Survey on Shopping and Disposal of Clothes Purchased during the November sale "Black Friday", about 70% of the items were "clothing" ranked first, and nearly half were "discarded".
