Powandirony was born in 1997 in the wake of conversations between Anniesbe, contemporary artist Christian Baltansky, and contemporary curator Hans-Ulich of List. Every issue, guest artists freely develop their works using paper and are published irregularly.
About 100,000 copies of this unique art-free paper are distributed free of charge at museums, galleries, bookstores, schools, cinemas, cafes and all over the world, under the idea of "diffusion." Powandirony is a type of exclamation mark and is used at the end of the sentence to point to the sarcastic content proposed by French writer Alcantale de Brahm at the end of the 19th century.
